- Winter Park Resort ski area in Colorado revives gondola connection between the town and resort. The idea of connecting the two has been in the master plans since the 1985, however it has been brought back to light. The hope is to link the two from an empty lot next to town hall which would create better access and tourism between the areas.
- Blue Mountain Resort offers a trip up to AGORA: Path of Light. After taking a night ride up the mountain on the Open-Air Gondola, a monocable detachable gondola (MDG), you enter an illuminated forest of creatures with the stars shining above. You can then explore the LED lit landscape that was created by industry leaders from all over Canada.
- Northstar Quad chair lift at Kimberly Alpine Resort (KAR) undergoes construction after suspected arson. Imported parts have arrived, and officials say that the new operator station is almost complete. The project is on schedule and major components are being prepared to be installed next. KAR plans to have the lift operational before the next ski season.
- London’s new subway line includes 4 elevators that move sideways. The sideways moving elevators, also known as funiculars, carry 17 people per cabin and move on the same route as the adjacent escalators. The similar route making them more efficient to install. The elevators are anticipated to be 50% more efficient than ordinary vertical elevators, while still operating the same with about a minute ride from pressing the button.
- World’s longest monocable detachable gondola being designed for an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, Dominica. Austrian ropeways and Doppelmayr will build a 6.6-kilometer-long gondola to Boiling Lakes, the second largest hot spring in the world. The monocable detachable gondola (MDG) will have 10 person cabins and consist of Doppelmayr’s D-Line ropeway generation.
