The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has launched a nationwide safety audit of all ropeway systems. NDRF is an Indian specialized force. Due to recent accidents in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, NDRF has launched a nationwide survey of passenger cable cars and ropeway systems. Each system will be evaluated by NDRF battalions on its security and operations. Additionally, NDRF is training rescuers specific ropeway evacuation rescue skills and purchasing a range of equipment for emergency evacuations.
The pulse gondola recently approved for Eaglecrest, Juneau is expected to be completed in fall of 2024. The pulse gondola is currently located in Austria where it must be shipped via truck, train, and boat to arrive in Alaska. The first container could arrive in early to mid-September. In addition to the challenging shipping, current supply chain issues and labor shortage makes building the gondola quickly nearly impossible.
