- Thompson Rivers University Students’ Union is encouraging the community to participate in the new plan for the McGill Corridor. The Students’ Union has suggested the idea of a gondola to connect Kamloops neighborhoods and the North Shore. A gondola is not part of any community or transportation plan, but the city does think it’s an interesting idea.
- Palm Springs, California’s Aerial Tramway will close after Labor Day for nearly a month for annual maintenance. The maintenance includes track rope repositioning, changing of pedant ropes and mechanical and electrical testing. October 4 is a tentative date for reopening the system.
- The Guinness World Record certifies the Cablebús Line 2 in Mexico as the longest public transport cable car line in the world. The system is 10.55 kilometers long, with 7 stations connecting Iztapalapa to Santa Marta Acatitla. The system has reduced travel time from 75 minutes to 36 minutes as well as reducing carbon emissions of up to 16,600 tons per year. To read more about the Cablebús Line 2 check out our coverage here.
