- The first gondola for Atlantic Canada opened this week. Located in Cape Breton, the Ski Cape Smokey gondola went through a load test earlier this month as one of the final steps before opening. The new Leitner-Poma gondola has 28 cars each with an 8-person capacity. The gondola can transport passengers to the top of the 32-metre hill in just three-and-a-half minutes and at maximum capacity move 2,400 people per hour.
