- France is open to providing financial support for a planned cable car in Manila. The proposed 4.5 km cable car would be integrated into Manila’s Metro system. The feasibility study has designated a monocable detachable gondola with 180 10-person cabins. The project is estimated to cost $100 million.
- Half Moon Bay’s traffic problem could potentially be solved with a cable car. This coastal city in California has a 10 kilometer stretch of roadway that on average takes 40 minutes to drive through, but at times can take up to two hours. In instances when there is an accident or natural disaster, closing the roadway, there is additional disruption to traffic. The idea of a cable car with two stations has been pitched to help the congestion.
- The Estes Park Aerial Tramway in Colorado has reopened. The tramway has been open every summer since 1955, but due to COVID restrictions was closed for the summer of 2020. The tramway has new safety measures such as same day reservations and reduced capacities.
- Demolition at the Steamboat Resort has begun. The old gondola’s lower terminal and the ski school building are being removed to make way for the Gondola Square. See a related weekly Roundup here.
