- After receiving preliminary approval from the United States Forest Service, Snow King Mountain Resort in Wyoming is moving forward with a new gondola. The resort has made a commitment to Leitner-Poma to purchase a gondola and ensure lift construction for the summer of 2021. The base of the new gondola will replace the Cougar lift which will be relocated 250 feet uphill. Additional improvements will include a new beginner teaching zone at the summit and snow making enhancements.
- As work for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) approaches completion, the idea of a cable car continues to be explored and a study is currently underway. The proposed cable car will transport tourists from the GEM’s hotels to the bottom of the Giza Plateau.
- Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort’s new Arizona Gondola will make its debut this upcoming season. The state-of-the-art Arizona Gondola will transport visitors 2,000 feet in seven minutes, cutting the time in half compared to the Agassiz lift which it’s replacing. - Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has released more details on the three potential traffic mitigations being considered for Little Cottonwood Canyon. The cost and benefits of each solution are outlined in the alternative summary. Parties in favor of the gondola alternative have created a one minute video promoting and explaining the concept. UDOT is expected to have a final recommendation by the end of 2021.
- Gondola cabins are part of the new observation wheel at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park which is set to open October 21. The 150-foot wheel, with 36 six-person cabins, was supposed to open in April to celebrate the park’s 150th anniversary, but the opening was postponed due to COVID-19.
