This bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Assam, India can take travelers an hour or more. A cable-car has now opened to relieve travelers of that burden.
India’s longest river ropeway system has opened. The 1.8 km aerial tramway takes approximately 8 minutes to cross the Brahmaputra River. Other travel options are by ferry, which takes half an hour or more, or via a roadway bridge which takes more than an hour during traffic. The transit improvement over the river is expected to boost tourism in North Guwahati.
The revised Penang Hill Special Area Plan (SAP) in Malaysia includes a cable car. Although the previous RM100 million from the Pakatan Harapan government was revoked, the state is moving forward with the cable car and looking at several funding options. SAP revisions include disaster management plans for landslides and being COVID-19 resilient.
