- There are plans for a cable car to connect attractions and surrounding areas in Bristol, England for tourists and commuters alike. The project is broken into three phases, the first phase for the cable car is intended to connect two famous attractions, the SS Great Britain and the Clifton suspension bridge. The second phase will continue to the west connecting more tourist attractions. The third phase would be a new line that will include six stops.
- Deva Fortress in Western Romania is upgrading the cable car. The Deva City Hall opened a public bid for design and construction. The improvements are estimated to cost RON 15.7 million (USD $3.8 million) which includes the upgrade of the cable car and modernization of the lower and upper terminals. The new cable car will be able to carry 30 passengers per cabin compared to the 14 passengers currently.
- Pakistan plans on building a 14-km long cable car connecting the Kumrat resort in Upper Dir with the Madaklasht area of Chitral. This would be the world’s longest cable car. The cable car is estimated to cost Rs32 billion (USD $200 million). There will be a total of three stations with both end stations having parking facilities. The intermediate station will have a restaurant and other facilities.
- The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) has made its Class in the Clouds program into a virtual experience. In pre-COVID times, the program’s interactive learning activities on top of the mountain inspired local students and teachers of Cape Town, South Africa. The program has been temporarily was suspended, but TMACC has developed a 360-degree virtual tour of the mountain top to assist with continued learning.
