- Saint-Denis in France will open La Montagne cable car in 2023. The system will be designed, built, and maintained by a French Company. The 1.3-km long aerial tramway will produce 92% of its energy from solar power generated from panels on the Vigie station. The tramway will not only reduce travel times, but carbon emissions levels. The 50-person cabins will provide a 360-degree panoramic view of the city.
- The Wellington cable car is still on track to open in late 2022 although tourist numbers continue to fall in New Zealand. In this radio interview, Executive Chair of Mount Wellington Cableway Co., Chris Oldfield, was interviewed about the Tasmania project, speaking to the local and foreign tourists the cable car is expected to attract. The cabins have a maximum capacity of 50 people but will maintain capacities to ensure social distancing and follow all regulations. The council has also proposed a 6.5-million-dollar visitor center at the top of the mountain.
- The Ajloun Teleferique (cable car) in Jordan completed the first phase of construction, which included take-off and landing stations and a visitors’ service center. The project was earlier put on hold due to the pandemic. Ajlounees hope the cable car project, which is very near the Ajloun Castle, will bring tourism related jobs. Their current unemployment rate is around 19%.
