- Thredbo’s new gondola is on track to open before the 2020 snow season in Australia. The new 1.3 km, high speed gondola constructed by Doppelmayr will replace the double chairlift. The ride to the upper station will be six minutes, reducing the existing ride time by 15 minutes. The eight-person cabins will move 2,000 people per hour.
- Mexico City’s Cablebús is expanding their system with two urban cable car lines. The longer-term goal for Cablebús project is to build 34 km of cable car routes. The new lines will reduce travel times from 75 minutes by car to 43 minutes. Leitner ropeways has announced that the additional 10.4 km are expected to open by mid-2021.
- Dubai’s futuristic sky pod transportation project route has been revealed. The city’s Roads and Transports Authority (RTA) has provided the proposed route map as well as a virtual video of the sky pods in action. The sky pods will cover 50 km, traveling through 21 stations. This new form of transit anticipates having a capacity of 8,400 passengers per hour per direction.
- Mont-Sainte-Anne gondola again comes to sudden halt. The Quebec system suffered from malfunction due to the same electrical issue as back in February that caused several passengers to require medical attention. Luckily, this time there was only one passenger with minor injuries.
- Arepahoe Basin Ski Resort in Colorado says goodbye to their 42-year-old double chairlift. The resort is replacing the old lift with a 2020 Leitner Poma fixed grip double chairlift. Unlike most upgrades, the resort has decided to keep the capacity the same at 1,200 people per hour.
