- A gondola that would span the Hudson River in New York state has taken the first step in an environmental review process. The Capital District Gondola, estimated to cost $25 million with 80% of that coming from private investment, would connect the cities of Albany and Rensselaer.
- A memorandum of understanding has been signed for a cable car project in Sri Lanka. Valued at around $50 million, it would be the country’s first aerial tramway. Located in the already popular Nuwara Eliya, it is intended to further increase tourism in the area.
- After being closed for more than a week after stalling, the Disney Skyliner gondola is back in operation. It’s reported by officials that following a review with the manufacturer, training and operations adjustments were made, as well as improvements to how Disney workers communicate with gondola riders.
- Calling Italian company Leitner a ‘credible partner,’ the prime minister of Montenegro announced support of Leitner’s intention to build a cable car system from Kotor to Njeguši. Prime Minister Duško Marković cited two recently completed Montenegro cable car projects as examples of the country’s successful public-private partnership with Leitner.
