- A feasibility study is being done for the Wyler Aerial Tramway in El Paso, Texas. This week the public was encouraged to share their thoughts on replacing or rebuilding the Wyler Aerial Tramway as part of a feasibility study commissioned by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The only tramway in Texas, the Wyler Tram quit operating in 2018, but prior to that hosted more than 45,000 visitors a year.
- Construction for the first international cable car project is underway. It will run between China and Russia, across the Heilong River (known as Amur River in Russia), and span approximately 972m long with an annual capacity of carrying 6 million people.
- This week the Burnaby Mountain gondola got the green light for moving to the next project phase, which will include public engagement, funding options, and preliminary design. The Burnaby, British Columbia gondola would primarily serve the 25,000 people who travel to and from Simon Fraser University daily. - The city of Branson, Missouri has withdrawn from a memorandum of understanding with a company hoping to bring a gondola system to the community. The agreement with American Gondola Inc was originally penned in 2016, and according to the city’s attorney “zero progress” had been made.
