- Opening last December, the TransMiCable gondola in Bogotá Colombia transports about 20,000 residents a day, many of them from the poorest regions of the city. - A new gondola on Mt Ruapehu in New Zealand is promising to boost year-round tourism. The Sky Waka gondola is getting a $1.5m construction boost from BayTrust.
- The Skyway gondola in Launceston, Tasmania, is seeing an investment of up to $20 million from the Larter family. The project is still under consideration by the Launceston City Council, the planning body for this progressive community.
- A new ropeway in New Delhi, India is expected to be operational within the next 180 days. It will be the country’s longest river ropeway at 2Km and take just 7 minutes from North Guwahati to Guwahati.
- And in other news from India, Varanasi is planning cable cars as public transport to ease road congestion, becoming one of the first few cities in India to get a web of cable networks to battle congestion.
