A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of urban gondolas, cable cars and cable propelled transit:
- The Brest Téléphérique is scheduled to begin construction in February 2015 with a completion date in June/July 2016. Once operational, the system is forecasted to transport 675,000 people each year over a 460m stretch. The system manufacturer will be chosen next Friday (November 14).
- Reports announce that the signing of a cable car in Oruro, Bolivian will occur next week. The system is planned to connect to four major destinations including the Cerro Santa Barbara, Santuario del Socavón, Corazón de Jesús and San Jose barrio.
- Due to high ridership numbers, reports appear to indicate that the cable car systems in La Paz/El Alto, Bolivia has generated BOB $14 million (US $2 million) in profits so far.
