A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of urban gondolas, cable cars and cable propelled transit:
- Taking full advantage of the aerial views offered by the Red Line (Linea Roja), advertisers have approached nearby homeowners and put up billboards on their roofs. While this is definitely a very ingenious way of advertising, regulators now have the job of ensuring that the cityscape is not impacted negatively.
- Perhaps following the principles of good transit design, it was announced this week that the Buenos Aires station on La Paz’s upcoming Yellow Line (Linea Amarilla) will house 28 traditional markets. Traders who worked nearby the station were initially opposed to the cable car, but soon changed their minds after seeing the terminal designs.
- While the turnout rate was only 25%, Hamburg residents ultimately decided to vote against the proposed Hamburg Cable Car. Full results can be seen here.
