A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas and cable propelled transit:
- News report appear to indicate that more cable car lines are in the planning stages for La Paz, Bolivia. The delivery of a new master plan to the country’s president, Evo Morales, was announced this week where additional urban gondolas lines are expected to improve connectivity in other parts of La Paz and El Alto.
- After the cables were placed on La Paz’s Línea Amarilla (Yellow Line) last week, helicopters also began installing the cables on Línea Verde (Green Line). More than 120 cable car experts from around the world are working towards a deadline of September.
- If the Grand Canyon Escalade proposal is given the green light, the site may one day see the implementation of a gondola, restaurants, hotels and shops. The Grand Canyon today already attracts 5 million visitors. The proposed 10 minute cable car would provide tourists with enhanced and easier access to the Canyon’s floor.
