A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- The cable car in Ankara, Turkey is scheduled to begin operations in March this year. The cable lift will connect passengers to Yenimahalle Metro station and is expected to reduce commuter travel times by up to 30 minutes (from 55 minutes to 25 minutes).
- Accompanied by Doppelmayr technicians, Bolivian President Evo Morales is the first to hop onboard the Red Line cable car system in La Paz-El Alto. Like the Ankara cable lift, this system is also scheduled to open in March.
- The original route for the Trebevic Cable Car in Sarajevo has been revised due to technical limitations of the donated lift equipment from Switzerland and site constraints. This modification to the $13.94 million BAM ($9.6m USD) project is now awaiting approvals.

With the Olympics starting, any news on the Sochi gondola that supposedly lifts cars as well as people?
Sam.
I’ve personally yet to see anything official photos but will hopefully get some more info sometime next week!
