A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- On November 1, POMA presented aerial cable car and monorail transport (Minimetro) projects to help solve urban development challenges for the upcoming 2018 World Cup in Russia.
- Penang, one of Malaysia’s most urbanized and developed states, is already home to the world famous Penang Hill Funicular Railway. However, in order to meet increasing transport demands and growth, as much as 3 more cable systems may soon be added to the area, effectively connecting Youth Park, Botanic Gardens and Teluk Bahang. The 3 proposed lines range from 3.1km to 8.5km in length.
- Il Fatto Quotidiano, an Italian daily newspaper, discusses how more ropeways are now being built in urban areas. It also provides an update on cable car projects in Italy, including ones in Genoa and Segrate. And at the very end, our very own Steven Dale, who was in Milan a few weeks ago, gets a special mention!
