A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- Thousands of commuter trips have been disrupted as operations at the Constantine Telepherique has now been halted for 3 days. It is not entirely clear why, but sources suggest that it is either for maintenance or worker disputes over wages.
- Another major news network, CNN has decided to take a closer look into the current and future status of CPT. And for some reason, they decided to describe cable transit as Skypods in their headline.
- NPR correspondents take a ride on the Teleferico do Alemao to learn more about the favela’s colourful, but often violent history. One of the hosts mention that while many of the residents are still impoverished, some estimate that 90% of kids in the community have access to internet!
- An informative interview with the Palm Springs Aerial Tram’s public affairs manager, Lena Smith, discussing the history of the Tram and future outlooks.
