A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- Officials in Kathmandu, Nepal have reached out to the French government in order to help realize their city’s urban gondola. If everything goes according to schedule, the cable car will become operational in four years time.
- An opinion piece indicates there are rumours to build a gondola in Hamilton, Ontario to Chedoke Falls, or as the author suggests, from downtown to Wentworth steps.
- Earlier this year, a news article revealed that Istanbul may see an urban cable car crossing the Bosphorus sometime in the future. Well more information came out on this proposal this week. The system is planned to have a capacity of 6000 (not clear if per direction or both direction), will carry 100,000 passengers daily and span 2 kilometres to Çamlıca Hill and Etiler district. However, it’s still unclear on when this system is planned to open.
