A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- After the Mountain Fire closed the Palm Springs Aerial Tram last week for five days due to poor air quality, it has since reopened on Tuesday.
- Halfway around the world, air pollution is also affecting another cable car system. Slash-and-burn hotspots in Sumatra Island are effectively reducing visibility and views for passengers riding the Singapore Cable Car.
- Good news coming out of Christchurch, New Zealand. While passenger figures for the Christchurch Gondola are still less than pre-earthquake numbers, ridership so far has been higher than original estimates.
