A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- The Toulouse cable car (Aérotram) received a lot of attention this week from the media. Reports confirm that the project is right on track is expected to be up and running by 2017. The system will span 2.6km, connect 3 major activity centres (a university, research center and hospital) and estimated to transport 7,000 passengers per day.
- If you happen to be in Portland next month on August 17 with kids, the city’s aerial tram is hosting a family friendly weekend where children can participate in a host of activities
- An old video of Prince Albert II (Prince of Monaco) taking the Télépherique à Liège in Belgium. This cable car was built in 1939 as part of the International Exhibition of Water but unfortunately celebrations were cut short due to the outbreak of WWII.
