A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- Perhaps the world’s most luxurious gondola cabin is set to debut in Zillertal, Austria. Select cabin interiors are fully decked out with a BMW 7-Series inspired theme which includes leather seats, massage chairs and complementary champagne. The cost to ride this you ask? Just a measly 150 Euros.
- Reports indicate that Peru’s capital, Lima, is planning to develop a vision to include a network of cable cars which connects to some of the city’s most topographically challenged and impoverished districts.
- After a Freedom of Information request, details emerge over the schedule of payments made to the Emirates Air Line by Emirates.
- Vail Mountain ski resort in Colorado is set to host a celebration today for the unveiling of its newest gondola system today called the, “One”.
- It appears that the Koblenz Rheinseilbahn is set to stay for another couple years after Doppelmayr, the system’s operator, has signed a letter to continue operations. How this affects the surrounding area’s UNESCO heritage status is unclear.

makes me angry. instead of developing serious interior examples they put stuff like that into a cabin. it’s like those prada and gucci bedazzled mobile phones. unnecessary.
let’s hope it at least has airbags inside!
ps: looking forward to see the gondola toilet cabin…
Yeah, I kind of agree. You’ve got to remember, however, that the winter/resort market is still this industry’s bread and butter. And winter/resort market customers have a higher proportion of upper class clientele that public transit markets.
It doesn’t surprise me to see stuff like this but I’d definitely like to see more designs that don’t cater exclusively to the wealthy.
