A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:
- The world famous Sugar Loaf Cable Car officially becomes a centenarian on Saturday. 5000 people are expected to come out and celebrate. If you happen to be in Rio de Janeiro that day, I should mentioned there will be 2000 free slices of cake.
- The future of proposed cable car to Mt. Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania, continues to be debated. 150 responses have been submitted in regards to the mountain’s draft management plan.
- If you’re looking for some spooky fun this weekend, the Singapore Cable Car is having an Angry Birds Halloween Party.
- And some more Halloween fun on a gondola, but this time in Germany. The Cologne Cable Car will feature “glowing pumpkins” on Halloween day.

Happy 100th, love anything with a great view, gondolas having fun with themes like Halloween, Angry Birds and anything that makes it less staid and with a “poor” image.
Usually “less is more” for many things, but often more conversation is better than less. There are often so many interests and viewpoints that hopefully they’ll all come together with some research dollars to see if it’s even feasible.
