I worked on the World project in Dubai (the cluster of islands that looks like a map). Sadly, was never able to travel there (my boss loved to travel, and he’s a mechanical engineer as well, so he went to all of the meetings). Of course my drawings are all sitting on a shelf somewere gathering dust, after the economy tanked.
Someone sent around a picture of what Dubai looked like from the ground level in around 2000 – more like a small city or large town, with just the occasional building. I see Dubai’s huge investment in real estate development as a sign that peak oil is on the way – better to invest oil money and have a stable source of income in the future.
I love the scrolling feature! I know where I want to go on my next vacation – Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso!
