A few highlights from around the world of Urban Gondolas and Cable Propelled Transit:
- The Winstead Br0thers, those of the ill-fated and ill-conceived Baltimore Urban Gondola Proposal last week planned to present a similar proposal to Ocean City, Maryland Council. Like the Baltimore concept, this was not a transit system and merely a tourist-based installation.
- Mere days after being scheduled to present the project the Winsteads backed out in order to “garner private support and make some adjustments.” We’ll see if this one ever sees the light of day.
- Bandung, Indonesia plans a network of urban gondolas/cable cars. They optimistically plan to start operating the system “next year.”
- According to a press release by Poma, Rio’s Teleferico do Alemao should now be operational.
- The Portland Aerial Tram hires goats. Seriously.
