A few highlights from around the world of Urban Gondola Transit and Cable Propelled Transit:
- Maclean’s Magazine gives a quick write-up about the Complexo do Alemao Teleférico. Interestingly, we finally learn what the system price was: $74-million (presumably USD). That gives a per kilometer cost of roughly $22-million, which is fairly impressive considering it will be moving ~4,000 pphpd and has six total stations.
- Manitou, Colorado Mayor Marc Snyder “matter-of-factly” declares a gondola”!” to be the solution to his small burg’s traffic and parking problems. The plan bears a remarkable resemblance to the overwhelmingly successful Telluride, Colorado gondola – a system which we’ve never profiled but should.
- The small city of Kohima, India to build a Metrocable system of their own.
- New Cable Car (Gondola) planned for Cheddar Gorge, England.
