This comes from Gareth in London. It apparently appeared this past Valentine’s Day in a local Swiss newspaper.
Gareth has no idea what it means and asked me if I could shed some light on the subject as someone who a) knows a bit about gondolas and b) spends a large amount of time in Switzerland.
Your guess is as good as mine. Anyone else have any thoughts?

It’s a political caricature about the ballot held on ninth of February.
50.3% of the people approved an ballot to restrict migration to Switzerland. This led to some tension with the EU as some bilateral agreements might get violated in the future depending on the implementation.
That’s why the guy sits alone on his gondola with a said passport.
The gondola suspension is drawn wrongly, it looks like an old von roll type.
Interesting. This makes a lot more sense now – the Swiss gondola to nowhere… Thanks Matthias!
